Berlin Cathedral
Located on Museum Island the Berlin Cathedral is probably one of Berlin’s most recognisable pieces of architecture. Because of this it is also one of the most instagrammable places in Berlin. It can be hard to secure a photo without the hoards of tourists flocking to see it so you definitely have to get creative. Or do what we did and step back a bit and get a cool shot with the River Spree in the foreground.
East Side Gallery
So obviously the East Side Gallery is going to feature on our list of the best photo spots in Berlin. It does get very busy with tourists so it is worth getting up early to take your pictures. The artwork is really beautiful and provides so many photo opportunities, although probably the most famous is the ‘Fraternal Kiss’.
Reichstag
The Reichstag, but in particular the dome is another great spot to get those instagram shots. Entry is completely free, but you do need to register online in advance to be able to visit. When you visit you will be treated to panoramic views of Berlin. As well as that the centre of the dome is designed with several mirrors to create an air of light without increasing the temperature inside the dome.
Brandenburg Gate
This is another classic instagram spot in Berlin, and probably one of the most famous monuments in the city. It does get incredibly busy here so an early morning visit is a must if you want to get that perfect shot. Also we were a bit too late for sunrise which is a shame because it would have made for a really stunning picture
The TV Tower
Getting a shot of the TV Tower in Berlin is a must. And yes you can get classic pictures of the tower from a lot of different places in the city. A lesser known spot with an incredible view of not only the tower but a large stretch of Berlin itself has to be from the Park Inn Hotel. Here you can pay a small fee (around 6 Euros) to get a lift up to the top of the hotel and admire the view. This is by far one of the best instagram spots in Berlin, and one of the more secret ones too!
Haus Schwarzenburg Street Art Alley
When exploring Hackescher Markt in Berlin, you might find yourself stumbling upon a small alleyway filled with vibrant street art and graffiti. The entrance to this alley is right next to the Cafe Cinema, which we walked past about 5 times before finally finding it. The art is constantly changing and it makes for a great place to explore and take a photo or two.
Charlottenburg Palace
Another popular photo spot in Berlin is Charlottenburg Palace. With stunning architecture and beautiful gardens, it really does make for a nice change the grunginess of Berlin’s city centre. It is free to walk around and explore the gardens, however entry inside the palace will cost you.
Nature Park Schöneberger Südgelände
If you love that whole aesthetic of nature reclaiming it’s place in the world then this park in the Schöneberg district of Berlin is a must. It actually used to be a railway yard, which has now turned into a park. There is a lot of graffiti and decaying buildings which make for some more edgy instagram shots.
